Tell us about your organization?
We are working to make Fort Worth Avenue/West Commerce a thoroughfare that caters to ALL of the people who live and work alongside it. We are bringing a greater array of residential and retail establishments to the corridor and employing new- urbanist and urban design principles to ensure the growth of the corridor is sustainable for many decades to come. We also help ensure code is enforced along the corridor, beautify the corridor and much more, with the goal of transforming the corridor into the great western gateway into downtown Dallas and the Trinity River Corridor.
How did the organization begin?
Four Oak Cliff residents sitting in one of their backyards lamented the lack of quality retail surrounding their neighborhood. They decided to roll up their sleeves and do something about it.
Who is your organziation serving?
Generally, the residents of North Oak Cliff and West Dallas.
Tell us about the officers.
Most of our board members live in Oak Cliff. One third of the Fort Worth Avenue corridor is in Oak Cliff. And the overwhelming majority of our members live in Oak Cliff.
Tell us about your involvement in the Oak Cliff Community?
In addition to transforming the Fort Worth Avenue corridor, we have fielded a float in the Oak Cliff Mardi Gras parade, led charrettes for creating transportation designs for Sylvan Road, participated in Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce events and more.
